Mai Tai (Trader Vic)
Material Components
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce orange Curaçao
- 1/4 ounce orgeat syrup
- 1/4 ounce sugar syrup
- 1 ounce aged pot still rum
- 1 ounce rhum agricole vieux
Vessel
double old fashioned glass
Garnish
mint sprig
Preparation
- Shake well with plenty of crushed ice.
- Pour unstrained into a double old fashioned glass.
- Sink the spent lime shell into drink.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.
Notes
Tahitian for "The best!", this original Trader Vic recipe is a blend of fresh juices, rum, and a housemade orgeat.
Taking a cue from Martin Cate, I used nothing but Denizen Merchant's Reserve for the rum this time around and I have to say, it's my favorite way to Mai Tai.
