Mariposa Fizz
Material Components
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 ounce sugar syrup
- 1/4 ounce white créme de cacao
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 1 egg white
- 1 teaspoon orange blossom water
- 1 1/2 ounces seltzer
Vessel
Collins glass
Garnish
freshly grated nutmeg
Preparation
- Rinse a Collins glass with orange blossom water and set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes, shake gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup, créme de cacao, and egg white.
- Strain into glass.
- Add seltzer.
- Fill glass with ice.
- Dust with freshly ground nutmeg.
Notes
Sail the South Seas with the SS Mariposa! Or at least enjoy the cocktail served aboard back in the 30s, as they bounced between ports in the US, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.
Rum used: none! This is a gin drink. I'm working my way through a bottle of Beefeater, but have my eye on Empress 1908 for that amazing purple color.
