Puka-Puka Punch

Material Components

  • 1 1/2 ounces aged column still rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces rhum agricole vieux
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce sugar syrup
  • 1/2 ounce passion fruit syrup
  • 1 ounce falernum
  • 8 ounces crushed ice

Vessel

Collins glass or Tiki mug

Garnish

an orchid and half of a passion fruit

Preparation

  1. Put everything in a blender.
  2. Blend for five seconds at high speed.
  3. Pour into a Collins glass or Tiki mug partly filled with ice cubes.

Notes

One sip of this rum rhapsody and you'll be whisked away to the dawn of Tiki, to meet the man himself. Or at least to drink from his head!

The recipe calls for an extinct rum called Pontalba, but Beachbum Berry says to substitute with Old New Orleans Amber Rum if you can. I picked up a bottle a couple years ago and didn't think I liked it, but it works great here.
