The Ancient Mariner

Material Components

  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce sugar syrup
  • 1/4 ounce pimento dram
  • 1 ounce aged blended rum
  • 1 ounce aged pot still rum

Vessel

double old fashioned glass

Garnish

mint sprig and a scored lime wedge

Preparation

  1. Shake well with lots of crushed ice.
  2. Pour unstrained into a double old fashioned glass.
  3. Garnish with a mint sprig and scored lime wedge.

Notes

With throats unslaked, with black lips baked / Agape they heard me call / 'Sorry guys, just a few more minutes on the drinks' / 'I can't find my citrus zester!'

The Ancient Mariner fits right in among the classic Tiki pantheon (as it should, being a Beachbum Berry recreation of Trader Vic's Navy Grog). Rums used: Hamilton 86 Demerara and Coruba Dark Jamaican.
