Trader Vic Punch

Material Components

  • 36 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • 72 ounces orange juice
  • 6 ounces orgeat syrup
  • 6 ounces sugar syrup
  • 38 ounces lightly aged column still rum
  • 38 ounces aged pot still rum

Preparation

  1. Squeeze juices from fruit, saving shells.
  2. Mix juices with other ingredients and pour into a large punch bowl filled with ice cubes.
  3. Stir vigorously until well chilled.
  4. Add cut-up sections of citrus shells and mint leaves for color.

Notes

Vic Bergeron knew how to throw a party, and his eponymous punch works equally well for a backyard barbecue or a black tie soirée.

I cut the recipe by two thirds and used a mix of Pusser's Blue Label and Flor de Caña Extra Dry 4 Year. Love the Pusser's, but the Flor de Caña wasn't impressive.
